My Story

Reema Bhattacharya, MS, LMFT

I am a licensed Marriage and Family therapist In Minnesota. I have lived and worked in diverse settings in different countries. I was born and raised in India and I left India when I was 23. I have lived in Europe, Singapore, and USA. I have extensively traveled all over the world and love the nuances, differences, and similarities in people and in families. I started my career in Singapore after finishing my Masters in Clinical Counselling 21 years back. Working in the field of mental and behavioral health, the more I worked with individuals the more I learned how families play a significant role in an individual's life. After moving to the US, I did a Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy. I work with individuals and families holistically using my Western education coupled with my understanding of Eastern philosophies and eastern cultures. I have also worked in the area of addiction and understand the correlations between trauma, mental health challenges and addiction and how it impacts the affected individual and their whole family.

I have grown up understanding and respecting different religions, cultures, and customs. Living as a minority in different countries, learning about the barriers and challenges to moving and leaving roots behind has taught me a lot about human strength and resiliency. In each culture, each society, we learn something new, unique, different. This understanding has shaped my worldview and informs my therapeutic work with my clients.

My approach to my work is trauma-informed, gender-responsive, and inclusive. I work with clients, at their level of comfort and work with wherever they might be in their Journey. I always approach my clients with respect, curiosity, empathy and compassion.

“You don't have to know what comes next. You don't have to have everything figured out right this second. You don't need to know your entire story. You are a living, changing, growing soul riding through your unique and beautiful journey of life. And that's what it is a journey, and it wouldn't be a journey if you knew how it would all turn out in the end. so, be patient with yourself and smile at the not knowing, because your story is just starting to be written.
